Sorry about that - I uploaded right from the file I worked on and forgot that my instructor had us scan at 300dpi. It should be bearable now.
I don't know if anything changed. I just drew Kali. I tend to draw bigger women or more balanced looking ones more often, but my goddesses make me assume a whole different mind set. I do think I respond to her shape differently than I would to, say, Banshee or Sarah. I hadn't really seen it before you pointed it out. It's something to think about.
Yeah, no religion category. I try fantasy, but the sub categories are original characters, animal characters, sword and sorcery and something else that doesn't apply to goddesses. People seems inadequate. I feel kind of awful putting Kali or Sekhmet in 'other' or 'misc', but that's where they go. I want to propose a new category for them.
Hmmm. Y'know, maybe it's buried under something unexpected.
For example, I did not know until you just said so that there is actually a category for original characters. And I know people who have been complaining about that very thing.
...or maybe they would just rather concentrate on the artistic medium than risk annoying the fundies. Who knows.

I feel you on the no Religious category. There really should be one.
Anyway, your Kali is awesome. I love her skull necklace and the snake going down her leg. Perfect for a Death Goddess. Only thing that looks a bit odd is that the raised arm near her face seems a little thin compared to the other arms.
Congratulations on prompting me to look up Hindu deities, but I have to say I'm not feeling the pink fuzzies on this. Are they symbolic flowers associated with Kali or something?
I find that salmon color frequently in Hindu art, and one I used in a bit redder incarnation on the first picture of Kali I submitted here. The fuzzies are there just because those are seen frequently around the necks of the gods as well. I think super saturated red alone makes Kali look a little too cliche in the 'rawr, i'm scary' way, especially when there's an 'all mother' aspect to her.
Yeah, that's true. It could be in 'sychedelic' or something crazy like that. I try to be logical about the whole category thing, but I rarely feel that the categories and I are operating on the same 'logic'.
The 'original characters' section should be under a lot of stuff, but there's definitely one under the 'fantasy' header.
I do worry that a religious section would spark wars as to which religion was the best, or that there would be attacks from people trolling the section for anything they didn't agree with, but I do feel like putting Kali in something like 'fanart' is a little blasphemous even if I'm not Hindu. This goes for Sekhmet and any of the others just as well. A mythology section could be just as nice. There's no loaded 'religious' word in there that way.

I'm not quite sure what you changed about how you usually draw women, but whatever it is, I like it.
That, and you can't go wrong with Kali.
