VG Ladies : Ayla

Part of my series of video game ladies who were my favorites from when I was little until now~

Ayla from Chrono Trigger

Chief of her tribe, honest and smart even while she's talking like a cave woman. Ayla is the strongest damage dealer in your party, using only her fists. She can't use magic or weapons and it doesn't matter.

Looking back on playing this game, I feel like I should have felt more of an affinity toward the geeky and science-minded Lucca (who is also fabulous) since I was such a nerdy girl myself (not so much with science, I guess, but still), but it really was Ayla I was excited about. She was enthusiastic and loud and enjoyed herself and I just thought she was amazing. Her fur bikini made me pretty frowny, but that she existed at all as such a big personality made me happy.
